Tatjana Peskir

I’m Tatjana Peskir. I’m a parent of an autistic child, and I wrote Autism: The Long Game.

My goal is to help you understand how the medical system works around autism: which specialists you can engage, what to ask them, how to keep records that get read, where the time gets wasted, and how to keep moving when nothing seems to be moving. I learned it over years, inside it, and I wrote it down.

I founded an NGO in my home country, Serbia, and in just a few years it became the force behind National Autism Week. I’ve organized international conferences such as SEECA 2022, been invited to the Scientific Committee of the AMRS Global Summit in Barcelona, done countless interviews and podcast appearances in my region, attended the medical conferences on autism worldwide, so I could learn from the best.

Through the years of getting my daughter the help she needed, and through my work in this area, I met specialists across genetics, neurology, immunology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology, from all around the world. This book, and of course my daughter’s wellbeing, is what came out of it.

One of those experts I met along the way, Dr Nicola Antonucci, was so kind to write the foreword.

I’m not a doctor, and this isn’t about the science of autism — it’s about the system around it, the one you will be moving through with your child. I’m not paid by any entity or idea I point you toward, so what you get from me is straight, just knowledge to make you move faster and better.

Autism is hard because it’s hard, not because you’re doing it wrong. You don’t have to do all of it, you just have to keep going, and I’ll show you how.
